I also use it on things I look at a lot - enemies, for example, because I shoot them from afar and then have to get right up to them to loot. I normally use 4k on things that are seen on actors - weapons, armor, clothes, etc. If you don't, then use the performance or 2k version.
Do you love wandering around, staring at the ground, looking for rocks? Then spring for the 4k textures for rocks and landscapes, and maybe reevaluate some choices. The sorting and categorization probably won't be perfect, but it should be good enough to make the list more readable. In this list, I'll have it broken down into categories. To handle overwrites efficiently, I generally start with the mods that change a lot of textures, so that by the end, I'm installing things that only change 1-2 items at a time. Since it's all textures, it won't be complicated to install. However, I am pretty pleased with the way my game looks, and thought I'd share.
